To be successful in this field, students must be able to:

  • Stand and work on their feet several hours at a time
  • Lift 50 pounds
  • Perform the job in both hot and cold conditions
  • Have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to perform mechanical repairs
  • Read & comprehend service manual information and instructions

Typical Wages:

  • $12 to $15/hour starting wage
  • $23.79/hour—Auto Technician Base Salary
  • $45,000-$75,000—Specialist or Manager in    Columbus Area
  • $55,608—Automotive Service Advisor
  • $63,278—Automotive Service Mgr. (Avg. Salary)
