Live Fire Training great hands-on experience

On April 2 and 3, Tri-Rivers Public Safety training conducted the first live fire training in school history.

The live fire training was the culmination of Firefighter One training program for the high school seniorlevel 2 fire/EMT cadets. The program was initiated in 2006 in the junior level as a public safety core curriculum that covers law enforcement, ems, and firefighting. As seniors the students declare their career pathway in either firefighting/EMT or law enforcement.

On April 2, the cadets participated in fire extinguisher training and car fire evolutions. On April 3, the cadets participated in live fire training at Tri-Rivers Live Fire simulator.

First Consolidated Fire Department provided a medic squad, rescue truck, and water tanker as well as personnel that provided coverage for the rapid intervention team. Chief Clint Canterbury provided his support as fire ground operations in support of the command center.

On April 3, First Consolidated Fire Department again provided vehicles and personnel in support of fire ground operations. Marion Township Fire Department provided dispatch assistance on both days of training, acting as a valuable resource in providing accountability on the fire ground. Marion Township Fire Department also provided an air truck to refill air bottles at the fire scene. Chief Mike Fogle served as Safety Officer to ensure firefighter safety at all times during the training.
