We have to recognize that law enforcement and
corrections operations work can be a violent
profession and at times it is necessary to use force
while performing our duties. We live in cultures
immersed in violence and our personnel exist at the
very core of this atmosphere. As unpleasant as
violence is, we must understand that our use of
force by definition is, “controlled violence.” We
must be educated in the areas in which our use of
force will allow us to survive not only the initial
incident, but the investigations that follow and
possibly the litigation that results from our
actions. Protect yourself from discipline,
litigation and prosecution. Course instructor OPOTA
certified. Continuing education certificates issued.
