The Tri-Rivers Medical Massage Therapy Program is designed to provide our students with the necessary tools to successfully enter a career as a massage therapist. Although our students have many avenues to venture into upon completion, our focus with this program will be medically oriented, incorporating, pathology, and critical thinking into our daily applications.

Ohio was the first state to license the practice of Massage Therapy, with the first applicant being licensed in 1916. Ohio is unique in that it defines Massage Therapy as a "limited branch of the practice of medicine".

The State Medical Board requirements to become a licensed massage therapist:

  • Completion of over 750 hours of education and training from an accredited school of Massage Therapy.

  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and competence in Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Theory, Ethics, and Business.

  • Complete a clinical internship.

  • Passing scores on the State of Ohio Medical Board exam in Anatomy / Physiology, and Theory of 75% or greater.

Our course offering has been approved by the State of Ohio Medical Board, The State of Ohio Department of Education and the North Central Commission on Accreditation.
